Traditionally, caste is inherited through the father’s bloodline , though if someone demonstrates aptitude, they may follow either the father’s or mother’s caste. Unlike many other castes, the Physician caste allows both men and women to be active members . In some roleplay environments today, the caste contains a large number of female physicians, though ideally a balance of genders strengthens the caste overall. The Gorean Merchants Association (GMA) has long worked to encourage merchant roleplay among cities and trading companies, serving as both a gateway for new initiatives and a platform for cooperation and publicity. Since its founding in October 2021, the association has grown steadily and now encompasses more than twenty cities and trading enterprises.
